The NS (Name Server) records of a domain name show which DNS servers are authoritative for its zone. Simply, the zone is the range of all records for the domain, so when you open a URL within a web browser, your computer asks the DNS servers worldwide where the domain is hosted and from which servers the DNS records for the domain must be retrieved. In this way a browser finds out what the A or AAAA record of the domain name is so that the latter is mapped to an IP address and the web site content is required from the correct location, a mail relay server finds out which server takes care of the e-mails for the domain address (MX record) to ensure that a message can be sent to the right mailbox, and so on. Any modification of these sub-records is performed using the company whose name servers are employed, so you can keep the web hosting and switch only your email provider for example. Each domain address has no less than two NS records - primary and secondary, that start with a prefix like NS or DNS.
NS Records in Cloud Hosting
If you register a domain name in a cloud hosting account from our company, you will be able to take care of its name servers effortlessly. This is done using the Registered Domains section of the in-house built Hepsia hosting CP and with only a few clicks you'll be able to update the NS records of a single one or even multiple domains at the same time, which could save you a lot of time and efforts in case you have a lot of domain addresses you want to direct to a different provider. You can enter numerous name servers depending on how many the other provider gives you. Additionally we permit you to set up private name servers for any Internet domain registered via our company and in contrast to many other companies we do not charge anything more for this service. The new NS records can be used to forward any other domain address to the hosting platform of the provider whose IP addresses you have used during the process, so when you use our IPs for instance, all domain names included in the account on our end can use these name servers.
NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers
The name servers for each and every domain that is registered through us may be changed with no more than a few clicks through the advanced, although easy-to-use Hepsia CP that comes with all semi-dedicated server plans. It is just as simple to view the current NS records for a particular domain name and to determine if they are the ones that are necessary for the domain to be pointed to your hosting account. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, is user-friendly enough to allow you to manage any domain address with ease even if you haven't dealt with such matters before. If you would like, you may even register private name servers ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com and use them not just for the domain address under which they're created, but also for any other domain that you'd like to host inside the same account. This feature is very beneficial when you have clients of your own and you would like their websites to use your own name servers instead of our default ones. The service is available free of charge.
